Welcome to Green Business
for Seniors (55+)

The green economy is expected to generate millions of jobs, presenting significant opportunities for seniors to combat age discrimination and promote social inclusion by integrating their skills into sustainable ventures.

In a world increasingly focused on sustainability and eco-friendliness, the Green Business for Seniors project is here to empower and inspire senior citizens aged 55 and above to embark on their entrepreneurial journey within the green economy. Our mission is to foster socio-economic inclusion and well-being among senior citizens by encouraging self-employment in the highly promising field of green business.

Objectives

What We Offer

For the 55+ learners

Motivational Resources

Our project begins with an engaging seminar titled “Green Business: Is it My Way to Go?” This seminar includes interactive presentations, success stories, and good practices to motivate seniors and highlight the potential and challenges of starting a green business.

Flexible Learning Pathways

We have designed a digitally-reinforced mentoring program that offers a flexible learning pathway tailored to the unique needs of senior learners. This digital toolkit supports the growth of entrepreneurial competences in four key areas: Sustainable Agriculture, Eco-Tourism, Upcycling and Repurposing, and Organic Catering.

Skill Development

Our educational toolkit includes short online learning courses (SOLCs) and a digital badge system to acknowledge the skills and competencies gained by the learners. This innovative learning approach ensures that our senior learners are well-prepared and confident to initiate green businesses.

Supportive Community

We emphasize the importance of a supportive and inclusive community environment. Our platform ensures that senior learners receive the necessary support and mentorship to succeed in their entrepreneurial ventures.

For Adult Educators and Facilitators

We have developed a set of e-learning materials specifically for adult educators titled “How to facilitate e-Studio: Green Business – a way for Senior citizens’ self-employment.” This includes methodologies for motivating senior learners, managing digital mentoring processes, and training workshops for mentors.

target groups

The project has three direct target groups:

  • senior learners (55+), including those with fewer opportunities facing barriers linked to discrimination by age in the labour market as well as social, economic and geographical barriers and cultural differences;

  • adult educators–managers of the digitally-reinforced mentoring learning pathway;

  • mentors of the digitally-reinforced mentoring sessions.

The Methodology

The learning methodology developed within the project includes three steps: 1) motivating seniors, 2) deepening seniors’ entrepreneurial skills to start a green business, 3) taking actions towards self-employment in green business.

The overall methodology is based on blended learning and reverse training by introducing innovative learning tools – short online learning courses (SOLCs) with interactive video materials, followed by digitally enhanced mentoring sessions. Thus, the GBS project adds value in defining more effective ways of working with disadvantaged learners using online self-learning opportunities.
